The Indian Army's robotic dog 'MULE' (Multi Utility Legged Equipment), named 'Sanjay', took center stage at the Republic Day parade in Kolkata, impressing spectators with its advanced capabilities. The cutting-edge robotic dog, designed for multi-terrain operations, demonstrated its ability to climb stairs, tackle steep inclines, and navigate obstacles effortlessly.
According to the Indian Army, 'Sanjay' and other 'MULE' robotic dogs have been developed to perform a wide range of critical operations, including perimeter security, asset protection, and intelligence gathering. These machines can also assist in hazardous situations such as chemical, biological, and nuclear warfare scenarios. Additionally, they are equipped to detect and dispose of explosives, making them valuable assets for national security.
Built for extreme conditions, the robotic dog can operate in temperatures ranging from -40 to 55 degrees Celsius and carry a payload of up to 15 kg. So far, the Indian Army has inducted 100 such robotic dogs into various units to enhance operational efficiency and reduce human risk in dangerous environments.
West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose unfurled the national flag at Red Road, kicking off the parade led by Naib Subedar Rajneesh. The event witnessed the participation of contingents from the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, West Bengal Police, and Kolkata Police, alongside students performing cultural programs. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also graced the occasion.
The West Bengal tableau featured at the Republic Day parade in Delhi highlighted the state's 'Lakshmir Bhandar' scheme, which guarantees a monthly income for women, and the 'Lok Prasar Prakalpa' initiative promoting the region's cultural heritage. A beautifully crafted Durga idol accompanied by traditional Chhau dancers captivated audiences.
Meanwhile, the grand Republic Day celebrations in the national capital saw the presence of President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, who attended as the chief guest. The event showcased India's military strength and cultural diversity through various tableaux and aerial displays.
